I got this for my 6 cup Chemex Coffee Maker, which makes 3+ mugs of coffee. This little lid-gadget is nice when we have guests, but we use it less than we thought we would. This is because the filter with grounds acts as a lid for the coffee. We just lift the filter out, pour a mug of coffee, then replace the filter with the grounds. So, the lid isn't that necessary, but looks better than the filter with grounds if I'm keeping the coffee to serve for a guest
